Asbury Park has quietly become one of the best places to eat at the Jersey Shore. The food scene is a mix of really good sit-down spots, casual places you’ll crave all week, and local favorites with true cult followings (looking at you, Cardinal).
Living here means we’ve done the research and know what’s worth the weekend wait on a crowded summer weekend. Asbury is one of those towns where you can have an incredible dinner, a great coffee, and a perfect slice all within a few blocks.
Best Restaurants in Asbury Park
This is an evolving list of the best restaurants in Asbury Park. If a new spot earns a place on the list (or something changes), we’ll update it.
Pascal & Sabine
Pascal & Sabine is a French bistro that feels special without feeling stuffy. It works for a Tuesday date night, a weekend lunch, or one of those “let’s sit at the bar and order a few things” nights. Warm, buzzy, and always a good call.
The oysters are consistently great. But the real reason I keep going back is the frites. They’re perfectly crisp and come with this house mustard sauce that is genuinely addicting.
What to order: Start with oysters and the mushroom tart. Get the steak frites (do not skip the sauce). If there’s a fish special, it’s usually a solid choice. You must get the chocolate pot de creme dessert.
Hadaka
If you’re looking for serious sushi, Hadaka is the spot. The omakase experience here is what elevated sushi should be: seasonal, precise, and built around excellent sourcing.
Chef Michael has created something special. A restaurant where the fish is treated with real reverence and the progression of the meal is carefully considered. This isn’t the place for a casual California roll. Book the omakase and trust the kitchen.
What to order: The omakase. It’s why you’re here.
Cardinal Provisions
Cardinal is one of those breakfast spots that somehow does everything right. The coffee is great, the food is always on point, and it’s the kind of place you can linger. Bring a book, meet a friend, and suddenly it’s an hour later.
What to order: The breakfast sandwich and the cacio e pepe scrambled eggs are both consistently excellent.
Talula’s Pizza
Talula’s is pizza that’s actually interesting, but still feels easy and casual. Some pies are classic, some get a little creative, and it all works.
What to order: Mozzarella sticks to start. For pies: Beekeeper’s Lament and The Rocket.
Barrio Costero
Barrio Costero is elevated coastal Mexican that still feels relaxed. It’s lively, it’s fun, and the nachos are a cult favorite for a reason. I’ve never taken someone here who didn’t immediately get it.
Don’t forget to save room for dessert.
What to order: The nachos are non-negotiable. The ceviche is consistently excellent.
