Best Bars & Nightlife in Asbury Park
Asbury Park’s nightlife is the reason people keep coming back. This isn’t spring break chaos or velvet rope pretension. It’s live music in legendary venues, craft cocktails on rooftops, German beer halls with communal tables, and dive bars where locals and weekenders mix seamlessly. Here’s where to go after the sun sets.
Salvation (The Asbury Hotel)
Rooftop bar at The Asbury Hotel with unobstructed ocean views, craft cocktails, and a crowd that dresses up without trying too hard. Pool access for hotel guests only, but the bar is open to everyone. Live DJs on weekends.
210 5th Ave., Asbury Park, NJ
Craft Cocktail Bars
Laylow Cocktail Lounge
Intimate cocktail bar with innovative drinks and bartenders who take their craft seriously. The menu rotates seasonally. Service is fast even when it’s crowded, which is impressive for a cocktail bar that stays consistently busy.
Come here when you want a well-made drink in a space that feels curated and intimate.
603 Mattison Ave. (beneath REYLA), Asbury Park, NJ
Rooftop Bars & Ocean Views
AP Rooftop
Above Convention Hall with boardwalk and ocean views. More restaurant than bar, but the rooftop deck is where you want to be for drinks. Cocktails are solid, beer list is decent, and the views are unbeatable. Sunset reservations book fast so definitely plan ahead!
Biscuits and gravy are incredibly delicious if you’re there for brunch. But we’re here for nightlife, so: grab a table on the deck, order something cold, and enjoy being above the boardwalk chaos.
1300 Ocean Ave., Asbury Park, NJ
Music Venues (Because This Is Asbury Park)
The Stone Pony
If you only hit one spot in Asbury Park, make it this one. Bruce Springsteen’s stomping grounds before he became The Boss. The venue still books incredible acts, and the indoor room is intimate and gritty. Summer Stage is outdoors with ocean views and full bar.
The indoor club doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is: a rock venue that’s seen decades of incredible shows and keeps booking them. Taco window inside serves surprisingly good tacos. Shows most nights, check the calendar.
Get there early on weekends. Good beer selection, no frills. This is Asbury Park’s beating heart.
1 Ocean Ave., Asbury Park, NJ
The Stone Pony Summer Stage
Separate outdoor venue behind the main club. Operates Memorial Day through September. National touring acts, local favorites, sunset shows with Atlantic breezes. Full bar, standing room, occasional seats. Better sound system than you’d expect for an outdoor shore venue.
Tickets sell separately from indoor shows. Worth planning a weekend around if your favorite band is playing.
1 Ocean Ave., Asbury Park, NJ
Wonder Bar
The smiling Tillie face on the facade is an Asbury Park icon. Inside is a beachfront bar with live music most nights. Sunday afternoons often bring polka bands and liter mugs of German beer, which sounds weird but is actually perfect.
Food menu is better than expected. Yappy Hour happens regularly with dogs allowed on the patio. It’s unpretentious, welcoming, and very Asbury Park.
1213 Ocean Ave., Asbury Park, NJ
