Best Coffee Shops in Ocean Grove, NJ

Ocean Grove’s coffee scene is intimate and fits the town perfectly. No chains, no noise. Just good coffee in spaces that feel like the town itself – historic, calm, and worth lingering in.

Odyssey Coffee

The best coffee spot in Ocean Grove and one of the best on the Shore. Moved in March 2025 into a stunning 1905 bank building on Main Ave – high ceilings, large seating area, beautiful light. Full espresso program alongside pastries, sandwiches, and quiches. Bills itself as a ‘vigorous refuge for thinkers’ and actually delivers on it. Open seven days.

Address: 63 Main Ave., Ocean Grove

WHAT TO ORDER:

  • Specialty espresso drinks – the reason to come – precise, well-sourced, consistently excellent
  • Pastries – fresh rotating selection, better than most coffee shops
  • Quiche – a solid savory option for a slow morning
  • Sandwiches – light, well-made, good for a quick lunch after the beach

Ocean Grove Bake Shoppe

More bakery than coffee shop, but the coffee drinks are solid and the pastry selection is genuinely excellent. Small and colorful on Main Ave. The crumb cake is the thing to get. Perfect for a grab-and-go before the boardwalk.

Address: 55 Main Ave., Ocean Grove

WHAT TO ORDER:

  • Crumb Cake – the item reviewers mention most – get it early
  • Croissants – fresh daily
  • Latte or cappuccino – well-made and a good pairing with the pastries

The Starving Artist at Day’s

Primarily a breakfast and lunch spot but serves coffee alongside a full menu. Good if you want coffee and a proper sit-down meal together rather than a standalone coffee stop.

Address: 47 Olin St., Ocean Grove

Morning Strategy

  • Best coffee in town: Odyssey Coffee – go for the space and the espresso
  • Best pastries: Ocean Grove Bake Shoppe – grab something and walk the boardwalk
  • Want coffee with a full breakfast: The Starving Artist – the food is the draw
  • Staying at The Majestic: their dining room does coffee with a proper Victorian atmosphere
