Sag Harbor Travel Guide: Where to Eat, Shop & Stay
Planning a Sag Harbor day trip or weekend? Start on walkable Main Street and the marina, then use this guide for current hotel, coffee, restaurant, shopping and activity picks.

How to Get to Sag Harbor
Sag Harbor is located on the South Fork of Long Island and is one of the most walkable towns in the Hamptons.
From NYC:
- By car: Take the LIE to Route 27E. Parking can be tight, so arrive early.
- By train: Take the LIRR to Bridgehampton, then Uber into Sag Harbor (about 10 mins).
- By bus: The Hampton Jitney has a stop directly in Sag Harbor.
Where to Stay in Sag Harbor
If you’re planning to spend more than a day, here are a few standout stays:
- Faraway Sag Harbor — The former Baron’s Cove reopened under the Faraway name in summer 2026 after a renovation; verify current amenities and seasonal availability directly.
- The American Hotel – Historic charm right on Main Street.
- The Sag Harbor Inn – Walkable to town and budget-friendlier than other Hamptons hotels.

Where to Eat & Drink in Sag Harbor
Sag Harbor has some of the best restaurants on the East End – here are my go-tos for every vibe:
Breakfast + Coffee
- Sagtown Coffee – Downtown hotspot for solid espresso and La Colombe blends.
- Grindstone Donuts – Right next door! Don’t leave without grabbing a few donuts.

Dinner
- Le Bilboquet – Waterfront French bistro with oysters, rosé, and great people-watching.
- Tutto il Giorno – Stylish Italian spot with beautiful interiors and seasonal pasta dishes.
- Sag Harbor Tavern – Casual, kid-friendly, and home to one of my favorite burgers in the Hamptons.
What to Do in Sag Harbor
You can totally spend the entire day walking around town – and we often do. Here’s how to fill your time:
Stroll the Harbor + Marina
Walk along the docks and watch the sunset and sailboats. Grab an ice cream and just take it in.
Shop Main Street
- Harbor Books – Cozy indie bookstore with a great selection
- LoveShackFancy – Romantic clothing and accessories
- Sylvester & Co. — Home decor, gifts and a long-running Main Street presence.
Kayak or Paddleboard
Rent gear from Sag Harbor Sailing and explore the bay on the water.
Visit the Sag Harbor Cinema
Restored and so iconic. Worth seeing a movie here if you’re spending the evening in town. Here’s what’s playing right now.
